History of My Hobby

Some hobbies have a rich history or background. While it's not necessary to know the background in order to enjoy the hobby, it can sometimes enhance the experience.
Spinning is an age-old art. The need for warm clothing during our cold Canadian winters drove most women and even some men to the art of spinning fiber into yarn. Even the children became involved in the picking, cleaning and carding of the fleece in preparation for spinning!

My Background

I am a farm girl, and I married a farmer. Animals have always been important to me. I love knitting and crocheting, making socks, mitts, and sweaters for my family out of yarn that I have spun. Most of this fiber has come from the alpacas that I own and from sheep that are raised locally. I have been spinning for myself for 4 years and custom spinning for alpaca breeders for 3 years.
